Dear Laila,

Big thanksgiving family time week has finally come to an end. We have been busier than usual lately and tomorrow you will stay with Nana while I go to my practicum and class. I absolutely hate Mondays because I am away from you for so long. This week I am also supposed to be “going back to work” but we all know that I’m not really going back to work- I’m going to take care of and snuggle you every day. Best. Job. Ever. 

Tonight you played with your cousins and your cousin Jaxton (he is now 2) couldn’t keep his hands off you! Too bad he lives in Texas, otherwise you guys could be great friends. Maybe we will go visit them when you get a little older.

Love you to the moon and back, little bug. I hope you know this.

Dear Laila,

We went to four different thanksgivings yesterday and you were a doll for all of them. The star of the show. You impress me every day, little bug. Today we have lounged all day because we deserve it. You have been in my arms almost every second since we woke up and I wouldn’t change it for the world. You are my everything. I love you more than I can explain with words.

Dear Laila,

You stole Aunt Sydnie’s heart. She even spent the night with mama in mama and daddy’s bed and was very impressed with your sleep routine. We had a girl night last night and you had a good time with the two of us and Aunt Kristin too! We watched the KU game. I hope you go to college wherever you desire to go and become whatever you desire to become but I truly hope you’re at least a KU fan! You have more KU clothes than I do so we are definitely setting you up for success 🙂 tomorrow is thanksgiving and it is going to be a busy busy and stressful day. We have four, yes FOUR thanksgivings to go to and at every one you are going to be the star guest so, hopefully you’re having a good day 🙂 – if you’re not maybe we will get out of things early. I am thankful for you, I love you.

Dear Laila,

Sorry I forgot to write to you yesterday. It was a busy day full of wedding stuff. I hope you forgive me. 🙂 you spent the day with Nana and the evening with Aunt Erin and Cousin Payton. Payton is almost 3 and she absolutely adores you, “baby Ray-Ra”. We had fun at the wedding last night and I bragged about you to everyone I met. 

Today will be more relaxing. A stay-in-your-pjs-Sunday is just what we need. I love it when you smile at me when I take you out of your bassinet in the morning. Good morning to you little smiley bug! I love you more than the sun, the moon, and the stars- and I want you to always know that. 

Dear Laila,

Good morning little bug. Nana is taking us to mama + baby yoga this morning because daddy had to borrow mama’s car for work. We were at Nana’s last night too- I hope some day you and Nana (as well as you and your other grandparents) are close. You’re just around Nana more because she’s my best friend. I can only hope that one day we have a relationship like that, little bug… But first you have to go through the “I hate my mom so much she’s the worst person ever” phase. I hope that phase is short. Please let that phase be short.

Dear Laila,

Good morning my beautiful, stinky, greasy haired baby. Today is bath day and I’m not looking forward to it. I think you’re starting to like baths now but I’m scarred by the past – screaming, crying, making me feel like the worst mama ever. I know it’s just because the whole bath thing is new to you but I hate to see you upset. 

You made it through the bath and you’re now sleeping on my legs… Feeling very accomplished for 9:30 on a Thursday morning. 

Today we will clean then we are going to Nana’s tonight because daddy will be gone for a bachelor’s party (dad gets to have all the fun!) I’m just looking forward to spending a stress-free day with my buggy. Just incase you forgot, I love you to the moon and back. 

Dear Laila,

We went to our first baby meet up today and you were an angel baby as usual (when in public). I want you to have every opportunity available for socialization so it’s time for me to make more mommy friends. When you get bigger I want you to have lots of kids to play with. Just incase you didn’t know, you are my little bug and you are loved very much.

Dear Laila,

You slept through the night! You fell asleep around 11 and just woke up now (7)! I am so proud of you. I didn’t sleep through the night- I woke up twice to make sure you were alive, but that’s what moms do and I love waking up just to check on you. You’re adorable when you sleep.

I hope that this whole sleeping through the night thing continues because in a few weeks daddy and I will be going to Miami and you’ll be staying with Nana and spending one night with Grammie & Grandpa. I was very excited when I planned this trip (before you were born), but now I’m nervous. I’ve only been away from you for a few hours – never over night. Daddy is out of town every week so he has gotten used to being away but not me! Can I do it? Will I be able to sleep? Will you miss me? I tear up even thinking about it. I am going to miss you so much. 

Right now you are sleeping in my arms. You just ate after going 8 hours without so I’m sure you’re tired again. I love morning snuggles with you. Your cute baby shorts and sighs are the best parts of my day.

I want you to know, little bug, how truly loved you are. 

Dear Laila,

I am not sure where I want to go with this, but I thought maybe someday this could be special to you.

Right now you are asleep in your LilleBaby carrier right against me. You are 10 weeks and 5 days old. I wish I would have thought about doing this earlier, but I’ve been busy taking care of you. We spend almost every second of every day together and we have since you were born.

Your dad loves you very much. He is away a lot for work, but I know he wishes he could be here more often. Sometimes it is hard, but we power through it, little bug. I want you to always know that you are very loved.
